Reading Source References

When the AI answers a question, it cites its sources. These citations are called Source References.

Trusting the AI’s Responses

Oystack is designed to reduce ‘hallucinations’ (when AI makes things up). Every factual statement based on your uploaded documents includes a citation number, e.g., [1].
  1. Click the Citation: Clicking [1] will instantly open the PDF Viewer Panel on the right side of your screen.
  2. Reviewing the Evidence: The Viewer Panel will load the exact page the AI derived its answer from and highlight the relevant text.
  3. Verify: You can read the surrounding paragraphs to verify the AI’s interpretation.
Using Source References allows you to trust the AI’s output without leaving your conversation window to manually search a 100-page document.
