Reading Source References

When the AI answers a question, it can cite the source material it used. These citations are called Source References.

Review the evidence behind an answer

Source References help you move from “this sounds right” to “I checked where this came from.”
  1. Click the Citation: Clicking [1] will instantly open the PDF Viewer Panel on the right side of your screen.
  2. Reviewing the Evidence: The Viewer Panel will load the exact page the AI derived its answer from and highlight the relevant text.
  3. Verify: You can read the surrounding paragraphs to verify the AI’s interpretation.
Using Source References allows you to trust the AI’s output without leaving your conversation window to manually search a 100-page document.

When to use source references

Source references are especially useful when you want to:
  • verify a claim before reusing it
  • inspect the wording around a quoted or summarized point
  • compare what the answer says with what the document actually says
  • move from chat into a deeper reading workflow
