Uploading Documents

Uploading documents is how you turn Oystack into a research workspace built around your own sources.

Getting Your Files Ready

  1. Locate the Upload area (usually found on the main dashboard, sidebar, or specific workspace settings).
  2. You can drag and drop files directly onto the interface.
  3. Supported formats include PDF, Word Documents, plain text, and more.

What happens after upload

When you upload a file, Oystack processes it so the AI can search, cite, and reason across it later.
  • Vectorization: Oystack breaks the document into searchable chunks so it can retrieve relevant evidence quickly.
  • Metadata enrichment: Research papers may be enriched with details such as DOI, authors, venue, or related citation data when available.
  • Library availability: Once processing completes, the document can be used in research chat, note drafting, and citation workflows.
  • Processing Time: Depending on document size, this can take a few moments.
Only files that have finished processing will be available for grounded retrieval and source-backed answers.
