How to Use AI Features
Oystack is designed to help you research with evidence, not just generate text. The AI can work across your uploaded materials, the open web, and your drafts so you can move from reading to writing in one workflow.
Choose the right research mode
- Chat: Use this for general questions, brainstorming, and quick tasks.
- Library Research: Use this when you want answers grounded in your uploaded papers, notes, and source library.
- Web Research: Use this when you need fresh information from the web with linked sources you can inspect.
Ask grounded questions
The main chat interface is where you work through your research. You can:
- Ask questions across your uploaded sources
- Summarize a long paper or draft
- Compare findings across multiple documents
- Pull out methods, caveats, or supporting evidence
- Ask the AI to explain a complex section before you write about it
Be specific about the task and the evidence you want. For example, ask
“Compare the methods used in these papers and highlight the major
limitations” instead of “What is this about?”
Verify the answer
When Oystack uses your documents or web sources, it can attach references and trust signals so you can inspect where a claim came from. Use these references to open the underlying source material, confirm wording, and decide what belongs in your final draft.
Writing Assistant
Oystack also includes a Writing Assistant for fast, local revisions while you draft. Use it when you want to improve tone, tighten a paragraph, expand an argument, or prepare a cleaner first draft from your notes.
- Select the text you want to edit.
- Click the Writing Assistant icon.
- Choose an action (e.g., “Make more professional”, “Summarize”).
- The AI will generate a suggestion that you can apply with one click.
