Notes Editor
The notes editor is where research becomes usable writing. It combines a rich text editor with citations, reminders, source import, AI assistance, and export options.Writing and formatting
The editor supports common drafting tools:- headings, paragraphs, lists, and task lists
- bold, italic, underline, highlights, and alignment
- links and images
- tables
- inline math and LaTeX blocks
- page breaks
Saving
Notes auto-save while you work. The editor also exposes a manual save action from the note menu. New notes are created inside the current collection.Due dates
Use Add due date near the top of a note to keep follow-up work visible. You can choose a date from the calendar or use quick options such as today, tomorrow, next week, or two weeks out. A short reminder note can be added with the due date.Research and AI sidebars
The note editor has two separate sidebars:- Research: Manage citations, inspect citation context, insert citations, and insert figures.
- AI Assistant: Ask follow-up questions while keeping the note open.
Importing source material
Use the note menu to import a collection source into the current note. Supported source types include DOCX, TEX, and ZIP sources. You can:- Replace the current note with imported content.
- Append imported content to the end of the note.
Citations
Use citations when a note depends on a source. Inline citations are clickable, and the citation footer keeps references visible near the bottom of the note. Citation style can be changed from the citation workflow.Exports

Treat exports as final-pass artifacts. Review formatting, citations, math,
and generated figures before sharing outside Oystack.
